BANDERILLAS (sweet and spicy)
Description
They are considered the oldest “Spanish Tapas” ever. Of wide consumption in Spain to take along with aperitifs. The name banderillas, comes from the worldwide known Bull Fight “Corrida” in which the “matador” (Torero) inserts 4 or 6 arrows on the bull back called “banderillas” during the course.
Banderillas are a kind of brochette of pickled vegetables inserted in a wood toothpick or in a little plastic sword. They are of two kind: Sweet (without any spicy ingredient) and Spicy (containing a bit of Hot Green Chilli). The ingredients are: one pitted green olive (or stuffed with red pepper), one gherkin (whole or sliced), one bit of red peeper, one silverskin onion, and one bit of hot green chilli if they are Spicy
